The Best of British

Welcome to the Best of British – RoadCyclingUK’s guide to the very best road cycling Great Britain has to offer.

The Best of British sums up everything we love about cycling: adventure and exploration, beauty and inspiration.

On our small island we may not have the grand Alpine cols of France or the historic cobbled climbs of Belgium, but we’re lucky to have some of the toughest and most beautiful riding in the world on our doorstep – the Tour of Britain proves just that every year.

We’re starting our tour of Great Britain in the north west of England – home to some of the steepest climbs in the country, with towering views and near traffic-free roads – and have handpicked four iconic routes, covering the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Trough of Bowland and North Pennines.

We’ve ridden each route and have been blown away by the sheer beauty, challenge and variety of riding – now we want you to experience the same. Each guide contains everything you need to know to ride the route, with accompanying video and stunning images to show just what’s in store.

Inspired? All that’s left is for you to plan your own trip and enjoy the Best of British.
