Now in its second year, the Richardson’s Rumble sportive starts out from the Cambridgeshire town of St Ives. There are two routes available, 100miles and 100kms, which take in the best roads the area has to offer. Although there may not be many climbs in the area, the wind on the more exposed parts of the course will be the real challenge on the day and will either make for a very fast or very slow time.

This is a fine opportunity to get that first century ride of the year in or is simply an excellent introduction to the world of sportives. Entry is £15 in advance or £20 on the day with all the benefits of a full-blown sportive such as full route marking, feed stops, mechanical back up and a meal at the finish.

“We listened to rider feedback from last year and the overwhelming majority wanted an early season event to get kick start their sportive season,” said event organiser Graham Temple from Wheels in Wheels Events Ltd. “All the riders really enjoyed the event and were somewhat surprised to find that even without big hills you can still have a challenging day out in Cambridgeshire.”
