Has anyone tried one of the Specialized Sequoia, Trek 1200C, Lemond Big Sky bikes? Are they suitable for a ten mile a day commute and also Sunday club runs or would a standard geometry road bike be better? I am returning to cycling after a long lay off so I don't want anything too extreme.

Try before you buy. The standard Trek 1200 comes with a high set-up for the bars that may be comfy at first and allows you to drop the stem lower through swapping the headset stackers around as you get used to the possition. It's also possible to flip the stem around, thus raising the bar height still further to fine-tune your bike for the first few rides.

Thanks Duncan - I shall try the standard Trek 1200 as well as the 1200C.
