'So good, I bought two...'
Strengths:
Red and black..my favourite colour combination! Armoured sleeves improve confidence.Good pockets(including zipped pocket).Very quick drying.Mine have had four years hard use and are still going strong.Good fit with long back.
Weaknesses:
Neck zip not very long, and sometimes jams.
A bit too hot for British Summers (eh?)
Reflective logo beginning to show its age (however, these tops have been used [and washed!] several times a week for four years so I can't complain.
Overall:
I remember reading a review of these tops, and the reviewer critising for sleeves which don't roll up - well, the armour wouldn't make much sense otherwise.
A classic.

'A GREAT BIT OF KIT'
Strengths:
Good fit, good pockets, armoured sleeves, warm enough for nippy spring/autumn days, good quality, good wicking, stands up well to repeated washing
Weaknesses:
Fabric pills but this doesn't affect its function
Overall:
Best jersey I've ever owned

'VERY COMFORTABLE...EVEN WHEN BRUSHING THE TREES...LOL'
Strengths:
The top is very comfortable to wear with two good sized pockets and a third small zipped pocket in the arse.
The mesh does work and particularly usefull during this time of year when all the new brambles are growing to ripe your arms to pieces..unless you have one of these!!
quality fabrics and manufacture ensure it will last and last..
Weaknesses:
collar zip is small..so when you do want to cool down a little its difficult..
Overall:
Like this top best out of the cycling tops i own...great alrounder and not too badly priced.

'THE BEST MTB TOP FOR THE UK'
Strengths:
Excellent fit
Amazing temperature control
Near bullit proof construction
So comfortable it often needs no other layering garment.
Weaknesses:
Over the years there have been some made from less than perfect material dur to availability.
Overall:
I bought my first MT500 6 years ago and it is still going strong. The early ones were made from a close weave cloth that is almost wind proof and perfect for spring and autumn days. They also repel branches and thorns! Later models used a lighter more open material and lenghtened the zip which has made it more suitable for UK summer use.

I have had many a fall on the protective arms and both the jersey and I have been unscathed.

There are 4 of these in my cycling wardrobe and I rarely ride in any other top, these are that good!

'WAAAAAY OVERATED'
Strengths:
Arm mesh is tough.
Looks good.
Good fit.
Weaknesses:
Works bad - arms get very hot and sweaty.
Zero windproofing effect.
Overall:
I cannot find a temperature when this top is comfortable, it's either too hot (especially the arms) or too cold.
It looks pretty trick but it really is not.
Reliability is first class - I can rely on being cold on the road and sweaty in the woods in this top.

'EXCELLENT TOP '
Strengths:
Ideal for when a fleece is too hot
Lots of nice details like compass on zip, mesh bits and reflective trim.
Excellent construction quality as you would expect.
Weaknesses:
XL fitted me well, bar a bit short for my own shape (short legs long body)
Mesh on lower arms gets a bit warm.
Looks very much like cycle kit so not really very good 'off the bike'.
Overall:
When it starts to get a bit hot for a fleece this is ideal. You can wear this under a fleece as well although the arms get a bit too warm. This is a well thought out top for UK offroad conditions. The armouring on the lower arms is a good idea, although I suspect the shoulders will take a bashing from tree branches as they are a much lighter weave. The compass is a nice touch although I hope not to need it

Please note this is the MT500 II, which is slightly different to the pictured top.

'A GREAT JERSEY'
Strengths:
ideal for all conditions but high summer. The fit is great and the mesh on the arms is a nice feature. I have been using one all winter with another base layer underneath and a windproof on top and its been fine. It is a great autumn / spring top with a gillet on top as the mesh arms are quite warm.
Weaknesses:
arms dont stretch much so if you have big forearms try the fit before you buy.
Overall:
Very please with it after 6 months of winter use. Still looks a s good as the day it was bought.
