'YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR CROTCH HEAVEN'
Strengths:
Comfort, comfort and comfort
Weaknesses:
Cost
Overall:
I treated myself to a pair of these to ride the Etape (I would never have bought them otherwise). The difference between these and any other shorts / bibs I've had was immediately obvious. They are supremely comfortable which, I suppose, is what most of us are looking for at the contact points.

However, this comes at a rather hefty price and I'm still not convinced that a bit of foam sewn into a piece of lycra is really that expensive to produce / market: The trouble is that once you've bought some, you'll just keep going back for more.

'DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN!!'
Strengths:
only had a few long rides in them, the fit was a bit tight but over time have losened and now feel great. Chamois feels very good, and there is a feeling of quality when wearing them.
Weaknesses:
sometimes catch chamois on seat when getting back into the saddle.
Overall:
so far so good, I have not really noticed any thing which really outstanding, but I think that is a sign of a good product. Does what it says on the tin!!

'ESSENTIAL FOR 50 MILE+ RIDES'
Strengths:
top quality construction and materials, look and feel good, about the best pad you can get in bibshorts
Weaknesses:
shoulder straps can feel tight until worn in
Overall:
used to get uncomfortable in my cheaper shorts on long rides until I bought these, theres enough padding to stay comfy even on a hard saddle. when new the shoulder straps are tight in a standing position but on the bike you dont notice this and they do loosen off a bit in time to give a very comfy bibshort, worth the extra to avoid a sore arse which can quickly ruin a long ride

'GOOD CHAMOIS BUT...'
Strengths:
Got these for Christmas and only used them a few times so far. Even so there's no doubt that the chamois in these shorts provides amazingly good padding compared to any other shorts I've tried. It manages this without seemingly bulky too. Construction seems good, but it's early days yet to assess long-term reliability.
Weaknesses:
At 178cm (5' 10") I fall exactly between the medium and large sizes as quoted by Assos. I went for the large and lets just say they are extremely snug around the old cojones - due to the very tight shoulder straps. It should be better once you "assume the position" on the bike but they still feel a bit uncomfortable for this reason. I weigh 70 kilos so it's not because I'm overstretching the material.

[Update 17/07/06] After using them for a couple of months, the straps started to feel just right. I would still advise you to lean towards a larger size if in doubt.

Overall:
I hope I get used to these as the chamois looks like it could make long rides far more comfortable.

Do I really feel they're worth nearly five times the cost of my Endura 6 Panel Shorts? Hmmmm

[Update 17/07/06] Now six months on I still feel they are expensive, but definitely worth it if you want the best.

'GOOD BIBS.'
Strengths:
Excellent pad, nice snug fit and classy too. They ooze quality.
Weaknesses:
A bit tight under the crotch at first but when you've worn them a few times they're great,I presume this is down to sizing as everyone is different.Pricey.
Overall:
Excellent bibs, got a couple of pairs. They are of a high quality, when you wear Assos on a bike you are really comfy and look the part.

'EXPENSIVE!'
Strengths:
Good fit and very comfortable. I did my first 30 miler (a newbie to road bikes!)yesterday and I can still walk and sit down so they must be good.I bought them purely on the fact that the pad looked the most comfortable out of all the ones in our local bike shop
Weaknesses:
Price, can't think of anything else wrong with them!

'COMFORTABLE'
Strengths:
These are the most comfortable shorts I have ever worn. I have usually got a few sores after a long day in the saddle however with these shorts I felt like I could ride forever. Despite the rest of my body reminding me otherwise.
Weaknesses:
Price. But to be fare I would rather pay for over priced and very comfortable shorts than trying to loose a few grams of the bike.
Overall:
Comfort will make you a better rider.
