 | | | Posted: 25/01/06 Updated: 17/07/06 | | 'GOOD CHAMOIS BUT...' | | Strengths: Got these for Christmas and only used them a few times so far. Even so there's no doubt that the chamois in these shorts provides amazingly good padding compared to any other shorts I've tried. It manages this without seemingly bulky too. Construction seems good, but it's early days yet to assess long-term reliability. | | Weaknesses: At 178cm (5' 10") I fall exactly between the medium and large sizes as quoted by Assos. I went for the large and lets just say they are extremely snug around the old cojones - due to the very tight shoulder straps. It should be better once you "assume the position" on the bike but they still feel a bit uncomfortable for this reason. I weigh 70 kilos so it's not because I'm overstretching the material.[Update 17/07/06] After using them for a couple of months, the straps started to feel just right. I would still advise you to lean towards a larger size if in doubt. | | Overall: I hope I get used to these as the chamois looks like it could make long rides far more comfortable.
Do I really feel they're worth nearly five times the cost of my Endura 6 Panel Shorts? Hmmmm[Update 17/07/06] Now six months on I still feel they are expensive, but definitely worth it if you want the best. |
