Graeme Obree is back

And wins his first race, a 10 mile TT in 19 minutes 55 seconds...

Obree is back on form and possibly thinking of heading for another season of racing?

It's nearly 12 years since he smashed the World Hour Record (July 17, 1993) yet he rolled back the years to win the Glasgow Couriers-Bennett Developments 10 mile time trial on Saturday (30.04.05).

His time of 19 minutes and 55 seconds was one of the fastest of the season so far and nearly one minute quicker than that of the rest of the field, Arthur Doyle (Ivy CC) was second and Hugh Jamieson (Inverclyde Velo) was third.

Who is Obree? Interesting feature and follow the links at the bottom of this article.

Guy, I think you'll find that it wasnt his first 10 of the season, but he did one the week before as well with a time of 20.33.

I'm amazed he's still riding. I've just been doing some research on him, and I didn't realise he pioneered the Tuck and Superman positions, both now banned

here's a picture of the tuck

and the superman

incredible!

OK but is it the fastest of the year so far? I reckon he might enter the Nationals. I hope so.

Sorry, when I wrote it I thought the point of the article was to say that he'd started doing TTs again, not the fact that he's done the fastest this year, which someone later pointed out to me.

So, what's his bike made out of this time?

Well last time, the bottom bracket race was out of an old washine machine... - and half the width

Was that not Boardman?...although the BB in that first pick does look a wee bit narrow!

He's probably using an old computer for his bike this time, more high-tech than a washing machine ;)

Nah - Obree. Self built in his shed !

You'll find Graeme has already done a few other events this year.

I know he won Denny Road Clubs Corrieri Classic 10 TT on 3rd April and a few weeks ago Greame Obree & Gordon Graham had the fastest time on the Denny Road Club 23.5 mile Boomerang SVTTA, they completed the course in 54m 40s.
