Solo clothing

Solo - the latest clothing brand

Solo's philosophy is pretty simple - Retro styles using modern fabric. It was triggered by the fact that when it comes to modern cycle clothes there isn't a great deal to choose from. Obviously Rapha have led the design revolution with a mix of retro and up to date styling combined with traditional and modern fabrics. But many of the modern trade jerseys are either over complicated or just terribly designed.

Solo is a new kid on the block and they certainly have made a pretty impressive style statement. Solo cycle clothing is a partnership formed by two friends who held a desire to wear cycle clothing that displayed simple design.

As their website states:
"Styles from the 1950's and 1960's hold the strongest influence over us. We take our inspiration from those great riders, tours, equipment and the cycling culture of the time. Solo is a step away from the rampant commercialism of today. Each jersey has a story to tell. Solo have dedicated each jersey style to a great cycling nation. Solo jerseys are cut and tailored from Sport X-Dry fabric taking advantage of the moisture-wicking properties that characterise modern cycling materials. This fabric encourages Solo to use colours, patterns and styles that are not possible using wool. As they say it's the best of both worlds. An 18cm front zip with an over-size zipper pull for gloved fingers, customised silicon elastic waist band, rear zipper pocket (safe storage for phones & keys etc) and our unique polycotton/lycra arm and neck bands."

At £63 they are certainly at the higher end of the market and they are very nicely finished with a quality soft feel to the fabric. It arrived a few days after our order was placed. A test will follow soon. The Solo website accepts mutiple currencies - Jerseys are priced at £63 / 98 Euros / $US 117 / $Aus 156 / $NZ 166. There are accessories (Arm warmers, caps, knee warmers and socks) too.
