Hammond in doubt for Roubaix

It was a happless day for Team Discovery as all the classics specilaists failed to finish. However for British fans it could be worse as 'our Rog' may be out with a broken thumb, sprained ankle and damaged knee.

He crashed into a pole after swerving to avoid a spectator in yesterday's Gent-Wevelgem race in Belgium.

He says he'll go training today and assess the situation afterwards. He's tough so it will have to be bad to keep him away from the Paris-Roubaix - he finished 3rd last year and was one of the favourites for this year's event.

Bad news about the injuries but he was always going to be expected to sacrifice himself for Hincapie and Devolder anyway
