swrve clothing

Los Angeles based swrve is a small clothing company with big products, producing clothing that's affordable and functional while being stylish all at the same time.

Started by founders Muriel and Matt after a search for the perfect shorts yielded little results, swrve began its range with appropriately enough with shorts, which have been “cut to perform perfectly when riding and stylishly when not.”

Features include a seamless gusseted crotch for comfort, articulated knees for better fit on a bike or barstool, low waist in front, high waist at the back, two 6” zippered back pockets, a mobile phone pocket on the side to stay connected, and a stylish trim fit for everyday use.Fabrics such as Schoeller are employed for year round weather proofing, and enough stretch for a comfortable fit on and off the bike.

Elsewhere in the swrve range are newly released riding jeans, Hoodie Jacket made form Gore Tex with a soft fleece lining, the light weight wind- and water-resistance Windbreaker, a range of baselayers and an array of caps - with a myriad of colours to choose from.

As the website says: “Designed to help you get about on your bike this very wearable collection will not leave you feeling like a spandexed extra from 'The Kids from Fame' but ready to integrate with the rest of the world once parted from your wheels.”

It all looks to be stylish and highly functional clothing that will meet the demands of urban cyclists, and its well worth spending a bit of time having a look around the website. All the clothing is handmade in the US and swrve are keen on fair labour practices, with the happiness and welfare of our workers important principles to the company.

Available from Mosquito Bikes, Brixton Cycles and Brick Lane Bikes.

I bought their rain jacket (in acid green) - and love it; light and small enough to be scrunched into a back jersey pocket. Wind proof and warm for early mornings, and lucky enough not to have tested it in the  rain, yet.

Communication with the website (and Muriel, the owner) was also a pleasure, and ended up buying more from them than originally intended, so now own 2 caps and  knicks/long shorts in addition to the jacket.

 Recommended.
