When you're a pro rider you can enjoy the luxury of having a large bike manufacturer go to extreme lengths to ensure their bike fits you perfectly, such as is the case with Liquigas rider Daniele Bennati who has been racing in the Giro d'Italia aboard a unique Cannondale SuperSix.
The Italian rider struggled to find a comfortable fit on an off the peg 56cm frame, as his body shape is one of short legs and long torso and arms, so Cannondale juggled the numbers and delivered a frame you probably won't find them rushing to the market.
A rangy 58.5cm top tube combines with a short 52cm seat tube, which has allowed Bennati to get comfortable aboard the all-carbon bike. In addition, Bennati's feedback and riding style resulted in experimentation in carbon lay-ups and tube shapes, some of which may be seen in future frame projects.
Cannondale frame engineer Curt Davis says: "Since we were making a custom mould for him, we decided to go all out and provide him with features that will give him further advantages in the final metres.”
