SRAM - the Porsche of the cycling world

565

Here's an interesting story. We often find ourselves comparing bike brands to car brands, as it sometimes helps to differentiate between the different merits of each brand.

Anyway, BusinessWeek.com has recently published a feature about SRAM, from the rise of the early GripShift systems to the current in-demand RED groupset, and in doing so compared SRAM to Porsche. And Shimano to Lexus and Campagnolo to Ferrari.

So what do you think? Have they got that about right? I tend to think they've hit the spot about right, but I'm not sure if Porsche is the right brand for comparing to SRAM. What do you think? [Engineering-wise, Shimano is like a combination of the best from Honda, Mazda and Toyota - ed.]
