Briko Performaniac bib tights

Briko Performaniac bib tights

Briko Performaniac bib tights £129.99

Briko started out in 1985 by producing waxes for the Italian national ski team. From such extraordinary beginnings, the company eventually moved into producing technical clothing for a range of sports including cycling.

The company's Performaniac tights are made from Thermofit HP Vuelta fabric with a fronting of Dynamo Pro, which deflects water and wind. They're substantially thick enough to cope with temperatures down to zero degrees, and Weld-Fusion assembly means there's no uncomfortable stitching.

Paramount to bib tights is fit and comfort, and unfortunately this is an area where the Brikos flounder. Anatomically shaped they may claim to be, but they're noticeably baggy around the knee area and the excess rumples up while pedalling. The poor fit didn't lead to any loss of warmth, mainly due to the thickness of the material.

On the inside, a Challenge chamois relies on multiple density micro-fibre foam to provide comfort in the perineal and ischial areas, and is perforated for ventilation and moisture wicking with anti-bacterial properties.

Verdict

Unfortunately, despite the warm fabric, fit is essential in a pair of bib tights, and on this criterion the Brikos fall short.

good Warm, water resistant, good chamois

bad Poor fit
