Castelli Gregario Bibtights

Castelli Gregario Bibtights

Castelli Gregario Bibtights £90

Castelli's Gregario tights are made from Thermoflex Core Due material, which with its luxurious fleece lining makes them as warm as stuffing a hot water bottle down your tights on a cold day.

They're among the warmest tights tested thus far, and this is down to the hollow core polyester inner layer, designed as it is to trap warm air but allow sweat to evaporate. And this certainly seemed to be the case. They offered unparalleled levels of warmth, but due to the materials high breathability they regulated temperatures to a comfortable level.

Sizing is important, and the 11-stone tester found the size L a good, if slightly snug fit. As with many Italian clothing labels, the size comes up a little on the small side so be sure to carefully check the sizing guide - I wouldn't have to put much weight on to warrant a size XL most likely.

As already mentioned the fit is good, with their ergonomic shape helping and, fortunately Castelli has opted for a simple design for the legs, resulting in great freedom of movement. The 'Giro+' ankles include a large zip and gripper tape to ensure the legs stay in place. The sublimated Castelli logo is smart and discrete.

The amusingly named 'Kiss' chamois is on a par with more expensive rivals, with the triple-layer and multi-density padding providing plenty of comfort for long rides. The seamless construction further aids to the comfort.

Castelli claim these tights are lighter than most, and that is certainly apparent pulling them out of their wrapping. Six sizes available are available and two colour options.

Verdict

Another impressive performing product from Castelli. Great comfort, warmth, dryness, fit and styling make them hard not to recommend.
