dhb Windproof gloves

dhb Windproof gloves £16.99

Before you read this review, take a look at the price. Ok, now read on.

dhb's winter gloves come in two flavours: waterproof and, tested here, windproof. The topside of the glove is made from a softshell material with a synthetic suede palm. Inside the glove lives a fleece liner, which is attached to the outer layer primarily at the finger tips - they're deliciously comfortable to slip your hands into.

On the bike, they're very warm, and it takes some extremely chilly conditions before the cold reaches your fingers. As you'd expect from winter gloves, there is a compromise in control at the levers, but these don't hinder as much as other gloves. They'll also cope with a sprinkle of water too.

There's no padding for the ulnar nerve on the palm, but I personally prefer minimal padding on my gloves, and I'm glad they haven't made the gloves anymore bulky than they already are. Silicone stripes are placed on the fingertips and palm for added grip.

On top there's a large reflective stripe and piping on the fingers, increasing your visibility while commuting or training in the darkness of your local lanes. A wide neoprene cuff with a Velcro closure keeps the gloves in place, and will stretch over a couple of layers if you wear your cuffs on the outside.

A top performing glove, and even more so when you look at the price tag.

Verdict

dhb once again prove that you don't need to spend a fortune for quality clothing.
