Future Revolution Track

Olympic Kilo Champion Chris Hoy will be joined by fellow British sprint stars Craig MacLean and Ross Edgar at the Newport Velodrome on Saturday October 13th to show their support for emerging British talent at the Future Revolution.

Future Revolution is a new event developed out of the hugely successful Revolution Series. The Future Revolution has all the attributes of the main Revolution but is geared towards juniors acting as a stepping stone to the racing at the main Revolution and progression into the British Cycling development system.

The event has been developed in partnership with DHL and is sponsored by 24/7 Recruitment enabling international riders from USA, Holland and Germany to challenge juniors from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The programme is designed to test the riders to their limits as well as providing crucial development in team skills. Races will include team and individual sprint events as well as plenty of endurance action with feature Revolution events thrown in to enhance the action.

Chris Hoy is no stranger to racing at Revolution and is looking forward to seeing the younger riders in action, “As an Olympic champion it’s always great to be given the opportunity to see the up and coming talent in my sport. I’ve always enjoyed racing at Revolution so it is great that this new event has been developed for our junior riders. It’s particularly exciting because the Future Stars racing is always hotly contested so October 13th should be no different.”

The programme will also include the inaugural DHL Sprint School Keirin competition, a culmination of the DHL Sprint School which was set up this year to provide coaching and competitive opportunities for young riders not already on the British Cycling Talent Team. Craig MacLean is a Sprint School mentor and acknowledges the success of the school and the importance of the link to Future Revolution,

“The progress of the DHL Sprint School riders has been incredible” he commented. “The school has been a huge success and now it will be exciting to see the riders compete at the Future Revolution. The experience will be a crucial part of their development and help them go on to bigger and better things”.

MacLean will be on hand to offer advice to the young riders but will also join in the racing taking part in a couple of exhibition events with Hoy and Edgar. These races will be part of the Future Revolution programme running between 2pm and 8.30pm.
