Sunday Bicycles has been around for about a year now, and was set up by Greg Roche, a rider with over 15 years of competitive cycling under his belt. That, plus having riders of the calibre of Rob Sharman racing aboard Sunday Bicycles in the Premier Calendar this year means they have a lot of experience to call on. Handy then, when Sunday decided to design a top-end race frame.
The Monday's Child is intended for those who who race on a regular basis and want a stiff, fast and responsive frame. As with the rest of the bikes in the Sunday Bicycles range, the frame is made from 3AL/2.5V titanium, but this is about where the similarities with the rest of the range end.
Every tube has been carefully designed to achieve the ride that Greg had in mind, one which is a "...comfortable, stiff, reliable road race frame with a little more feedback from the tarmac than the smooth Silk Road range." Based around a sloping geometry, a double butted triangular formed top tube should, combined with the heavily ovalised and double butted down tube, ensure the frame resists any twisting. An hour-glass shaped integrated head tube completes the front end.
The seat tube is also double butted, and the round profile becomes oval-shaped when it reaches the bottom bracket. Chainstays are asymmetrically butted - the drive side stay is non-butted while the non-drive side is butted. Seat stays are curved outwards and are ovalised to provide, in conjunction with the chain stays, a little bit of comfort.
