FIRST LOOK: Trek's XO2

XO2
The XO2 - A race ready 'crosser

We went to Trek HQ last week and we have the low down on all the new bikes for 2007. We will have plenty of stuff to show you over the next week or so. First up: Cyclo Cross bikes.

Trek have noticed the Cyclo Cross market deserves a proper look and have upgraded their XO1 to include the XO2. This is features a Shimano Ultegra 10 speed drive train and Avid cantilever brakes all equipped as a race bike. The Bontrager cranks are already equipped with 46/38 rings suitable for racing 'cross.

It's a pretty good spec with not much you need to change to get racing. For £1000 the XO1 also offers pretty good race-ready value too. The frames have been lightened up, gaps have been increased for mud clearance and they now include a race orientated Carbon fork. Availability should be good from now on, although most of the ones at the Trek roadshow were off to National squad riders and teams.

Just read the first look at the new Trek cyclocross bike range. Does anyone know whether the XO2 will take mud guards and / or a rack?
