FIRST LOOK: 'Team' Madone 5.9 SL

Trek Madone
The Trek Madone 5.9 SL, with a few differences

OK so it didn't win the Tour this year, but this is the team bike that Roger, George and the rest of the boys at the Disco team ride. We've had this one of Discovery's Trek 110 Madone SL OCLV frames for a while. This is a prototype for a 2007 stock bike and it's one of a kind as the final bike won't actually look like this, as it's to have a different finish.

Lined up and ready for action

Tech. Spec.

Price: £3500
Frame only: £1600
Frame: OCLV 110 Carbon
Forks: Bontrager Race XXX Lite, carbon
Wheels: Bontrager Race X Lite
Crankset: Shimano Dura-ace 53/39
or Bontrager Race X Lite carbon 50/36
Sizes: 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 62cm
Colours: Silver/Blue Team or Andromeda

So although this is as the stock bike that a team rider is provided with, adorned with Dura Ace and Bontrager, not all riders are alike. With the fussy ones opting for different finishing kits (saddles, stems, bars and pedals). But you can tell this is a team issue bike by the number boss under the top tube and the Shimano Dura Ace seat pin - these are the only real differences from the stock bikes.

Next year there will be a bike with a similar spec. albeit in a different colour. We'll have a full test report on how this one rode in a week or so.
