New Bikes: Gilder 'Eastway'

“London's Eastway is the finest dedicated bike-racing circuit in Europe, if not the world”
Eddy Merckx

Cyclefit, is adding another frame to its Glider range called 'The Eastway' to commemorate and celebrate 31 years of racing at the UK's favourite racing venue, formally known as Lea Valley Cycle Circuit but more affectionately known as 'Eastway' - and the fact that many of us believe that 31 years is way too few.

Eastway will be bulldozed at the end of this year to make way for London's Olympic facilities. Losing the Eastway Circuit is a huge blow to the cycling community, both on an emotional and practical level.

“Eastway is now indelibly imprinted on Britian's bike-racing consciousness, with special importance to Londoners like Julian [Wall] and myself”
states Phil Cavell co-founder of Cyclefit
“its where we all started racing nearly 20 years ago. The Eastway frame will carry this very special name for many years after the circuit has gone”.

The Glider Eastway frame is handmade in Italy in small numbers from specially selected 7003 series aluminium tubing with Deda carbon rear stays. The Glider Eastway is based on the results from thousands of Cyclefit sessions and associated customer feedback. Cyclefit has designed the frame for fast tight circuits and road races without compromising the rider's perfect bio-mechanical effectiveness.

Every part of the one-mile Eastway circuit has its echoes in the Glider frame: the cliff-face climb of Oxo Hill inspiring impulsive power-transmission whilst Clary's Hairpin bequeaths hair-trigger handling and class-leading cornering clearance. The frame is available from 48cm to 62cm in 2cm increments. The frame and forks will retail at £849.00

Warrick Spence (London Dynamo/Cyclefit) one of Cyclefit's technicians will be riding the 'Eastway' in the National Criterium Series and is looking to improve on his 3rd overall position from 2005.

Cyclefit will be donating a percentage of the profit from each frame sold to an as yet undecided organisation or charity that is involved in cycle sport in London. For more information on the Glider range or to make donation suggestions for cycling charities or organisations please contact www.cyclefit.co.uk
