Very stylish new t3c

Suunto produce some of the most stylish and function-packed heart rate monitors/cycle computers going, and the Finnish-based company has just released a new Cadence POD to extend the functionality of its computers.

The new Cadence POD is compatible with the t3c, t4c and t6c (as tested by RCUK). The Suunto watches that match the PODs come with a new improved, super soft, heart rate monitor belt.

The all-singing all-dancing t6c has been updated for 2008, now allowing you to glance at all your vital stats on the unit, without having to wait until you've downloaded the data to a PC. The t6c can immediately give information including heart rate, exercise intensity (EPOC), energy expenditure and training effect with great accuracy. Archiving and analysing the data provided by the Suunto t6c continues to be possible with the Suunto Training Manager PC program.

The less expensive but still feature packed t3c and t4c computersoffer a goal-oriented cyclist the opportunity to train properly and get results. In addition to the heart rate monitor, both devices contain a real-time TE display that directs your training more accurately than before. The Training Effect (TE) value notes not only heart rate but also heart rate variability, thus providing reliable information on workout intensity and the effect on your fitness. Monitoring the TE value also reduces the risk of overtraining.

Why is monitoring cadence important? By monitoring cadence you can keep the revolutions as fast and economical as possible during long rides and in races, or ensure that the revolutions stay slow enough and the resistance high enough in strength training.
