FIRST LOOK: 2007 Focus

Focus Cayo
The Focus Cayo - great spec and a great price

Arriving soon in the UK is the second phase of Focus road bikes, handled exclusively in the UK by wiggle. After a solid year for the 2006 range, 2007 looks to be one of improvements with the new bikes having had considered tweaks to the spec and paint jobs, whilst still keeping their eye on the competition and holding their own price wise.

The range will have three models of the Focus “Cayo” a double, a triple and the “Expert” all sporting the brand new Focus fat weave carbon frame. There will be a new women's road bike, the “Hot Venus”, aimed at serious female racers

The specs look very tidy too (from the pictures) Easton and Fulcrum wheelsets, with mainly Shimano 105 and Ultegra groups. The Cayo (pictured above) looks especially well finished with full Ultegra, Mavic wheels and Ritchey extras - on the face of it they are certainly excellent value.

There's also the “Ergoride” “SL” and “ST” aimed specifically at the Audax rider looking for something a bit more relaxed in it's ride characteristics. The Variado and Izalco return plus their derivatives. Focus have also entered the Cyclo-Cross market so watch out for the “Mares Cross”.

Below are some stock photo's we've been sent by Focus, more information is coming in slowly so keep checking out the wiggle blog and www.wiggle.co.uk for updates on spec, prices and hopefully some spy shots. The full range will be available to see and pre-order online in the next month or so. We await a test bike, we've heard only good things about them.

Izalco - £1299.99
Hot Venus - £949.99
Cayo - £999.99

Hi guys,
I bought my new Focus Cayo about a fortnight ago, having recently completed a LEJOG on my old Dynatec "Trigger", which was beginning to show its age.
I am very impressed with the spec for the money and the only bit I wasn't overly chuffed about was the 'long drop' on the Ulegra derailer. I suppose they supply it universally to cover both the double and triple chainset variants.
Other than that, I love it. It arrived quickly and all I had to do was set up the handlebars and I was away.
Since buying it I have added a Fizik Arione saddle, even though there was nothing wrong with the San Marco, and will probably do something about the Derailleur in due course.
