Traditional steel frame builder aims to raise profile with exciting new plans
Founded in 1949 but with a record of building bike frames that goes back back to 1928, there’s no shortage of history with London-based Witcomb Cycles. The company is one of the few remaining choices for those in the market for a hand-built steel frame, and has unveiled developments that it hopes will raise the profile of the brand.
With the wide range of skills and experience built up since the company’s launch at his disposal, designer Tony Malone has created a range of bespoke frames and custom designs. And as well as a range of steel frames, the company is keen to embrace new technology, with news of a carbon frameset to be released.
Other plans to rejuvenate the brand include reviving the Witcomb Racing team, which once enjoyed the membership of Phil Liggett, for many the voice of the Tour de France.
