Sigma BC 2006 MHR DTS

The latest bit of gadgetry to hit the RCUK desk this week is this new bike computer from Sigma. While many people detest bike computers – they hardly look good on your bars – they do have their place. They’re invaluable for training as you can ensure accuracy in your training diary, rather than relying on guesswork.

For £97.95 the BC 2006 MHR packs 17 functions plus a three function heart rate monitor. Perhaps most useful, or interesting, of those 17 functions are the altitude modes, especially if sportives are your thing, and the supplied chest strap will record your max and average heart rate while getting up those climbs.

Sigma have a good reputation producing bike computers, and this latest model demonstrates the latest evolution of their large and easy to read screens. First impressions, flicking through the different modes, is that it’s easy to navigate and quickly find the one mode you’re looking for. Further testing will reveal how it copes under RUCK test circumstances.

This looks like computer that has every function that I want. As usual the UK distributers have hiked the price up. It is available on e-bay from Germany for about £55 plus p&p.
