SHIFT: What's in it

First issue of our very own magazine is at the printers, so we can say with some confidence what'll be in it...

The first issue of SHIFT is being printed right now, so there's no going back. It somehow manages to combine the very best of on- and off -road cycling in one unmissable and unputdownable package (IMHO). Here's what's in it:

BITS OF ROUGH

INTERVIEW: JAMIE HOUSSAIN
The Collective's big kahuna on new production Seasons. It's all about being "legitimately stoked"

SIMPLE NECESSITIES
Marvel at the uncomplicated joy of camping out, riding bikes and not being eaten

SUPERBIKE: WHYTE E-120
We have seen the future - it's carbon fibre, it's swoopy and it's British

IN THE BEGINNING
Marin County is the crucible in which mountain biking was forged. It's a great place to ride, and the rest of Northern California's amazing too

GEAR FREAKERY

MTB TESTS
Jeff Jones Spaceframe, Specialized Safire and Santa Cruz Blur LT out on the trails

ROAD BIKE TESTS
Time Edge Race, Pegoretti Duende and Enigma Echo battered across the Belgian cobbles

PRODUCTS
Shiny stuff that works as good as it looks

XT XXV
Shimano's classic MTB group is 25 years old

FACTORY
Off to deepest Sussex for a poke and a prod at USE's bars, stems, lights, chainrings...

ONES FOR THE ROAD

INTERVIEW: RON WEBB
Ridden a top-flight velodrome lately? Chances are you've been treading Ron's boards

CHASING THE DRAGON
The South Wales cyclosportive that brought the concept to Britain and hasn't got any easier

SUPERBIKE: MUSEEUW MF5
Bamboo isn't the only frame material you can grow - Museeuw's gone for just the flax

JUICY NUGGETS

OFF THE FRONT
Bring two editors into the magazine? Er, yes

EVENTS SPECIAL
The power of mass participation, in pictures

PLANET BIKE
A compendium of short cycling stories

COMPETITION
Win something very special indeed. No kidding

GALLERY
The camera never lies - bikes really are great

CALENDAR
Three months of key events to ride or watch

SAG WAGON
Anonymous rantage, with just a hint of bile

Has anybody tried to subscribe to this magazine? I have and it's nigh on bloody impossible.

I have phoned the subscription number about 20 times and got an answer once. The bloke that answered said that I needed to speak to someone else and they would phone me back.....you've guessed it, they never did.

Unless I'm missing something obvious there is no way of subscribing on-line either. Oh well at least I've saved £20.

If you click on the related article "SHIFT: What's in it" link above and scroll down to the bottom of the page, it says Buy On-Line here...!  Mind you, from the telephonic nightmare you describe you're probably not going to spend your hard earned with them!

That link seems to be just for the current, first, issue and not subscriptions. It's a shame really because I enjoyed the first issue.

I have enjoyed thoroughly the first issue, really liked its approach to cycling in general, although being a roadie the MB stuff has been a bit ignored. I will try to subscribe probably. there is one point: in my experience with spanish and french magazines, they all have opted finally out for road or mountain, do not know of anything covering both.

Bought this yesterday and it arrived today.  As far as I can see there was no subscription option and ordering was very easy.

Just a small point - when the mag arrived the envelope was ripped open - should there have been anything else with the mag, free gift or anything?  I'm not expecting one but just wanted to check as it was ripped open.

Hello All,

Just a quick update on the Magazine, hopefully to answer some of the questions regarding subscription.

We are currently still selling issue one, so no subscription option on purchase yet.  Apologies if some of you have been given the runaround over the phone.

We are just beginning work on issue two, and are deciding on a release date.  When we get this issue out to the market, we will definitely be offering a subscription based on four issues.

We will keep you all informed on issue two as we have more news, and thank you for the support shown on issue one.

Kind Regards

Simon Ormesher
