...and Beyond

Magnus
Liquigas Pro Tour Cycling Team, including Cannondale alumni and winner of the inaugural Pro Tour Danilo Di Luca, has chosen Cannondale bicycles as technical bicycle sponsor in a multi-year partnership beginning in 2007.

The agreement secures a long-term partnership with the high profile and highly sought-after world class Liquigas team. Both parties are enthusiastic about the spirit of partnership and the many important victories to come.

“Liquigas has the breadth of talent to showcase and win with world class athletes and a strong vision for the future,” said Matt Mannelly, Cannondale President and CEO. “A key aspect of the sponsorship is the integration of the team into the Cannondale Product Creation Process. Everything we create hinges on input from riders at the highest level. We look forward to collaborating with Liquigas to fuel our engineers towards continued innovation,” Mannelly continues.

Both Di Luca and Paris Roubaix winner, Swedish powerhouse, Magnus Backstedt, will begin their next season on-board Cannondale’s SystemSix, which recently topped the charts in Germany’s Tour Magazine benchmark performance tests. Its lightweight construction and explosive stiffness make it the ideal platform for one-day powerhouses and climbers alike.

“These decisions are made as a team,” said Liquigas Managing Director Roberto Amadio. “Several members of our team such as Di Luca, Bertagnolli, Spezialetti and Roberto Petito have raced and won on Cannondale in the past—and in the end it comes down to product performance. Our success hinges on aligning ourselves with the best partners. We believe that Cannondale is at the forefront of bicycle innovation.”

Liquigas was the best choice for Cannondale. “This was a very important decision for us.” says Mannelly. “We’ve been approached by a number of teams and we had the best chemistry with Liquigas—it’s a true partnership built on performance and winning at the highest level.”

Team Liquigas is the crown jewel in Cannondale’s show of force on the road in 2007. With the successful Continental Team Barloworld and 3 time NRC Champion Health Net riding Cannondale, the addition of Team Liquigas ensures that Cannondale-sponsored racers will top podiums worldwide in 2007 and beyond. I have always loved Cannondale bikes and their styling, ever since they first burst on the scene with Saeco and Mario Cipollini in the mid/late 90's.

This link up with Liquigas sees the American/Italian link up re-established.

But will Liquigas ditch their awful lime outfit to fit in with the 'cool' brand?!!

Dare i say that i quite like the Liquigas outfit, they stand out in the peleton. Not as cool as Cipo's 'red train' though

Seems unlikely that they'd change...

Well done Liquigas - I'll ride my CAAD 4 with a bigger smile on my face wearing my Saeco jersey!!!

Wow! that is one unpleasant website to look at!

What do you expect from a company whose name is correctly pronounced 'Leaky-gas'?
Posted: 17/10/2006 12:10

I recently got a CAAD5 with the Carbon forks and it goes like a dream, I am very impressed with it. Just need the rider to get a bit fitter! Never particularly liked the LeakyGas colours, something about green, I think.

Great news.........
After Lampre dropped Cannondale in favour of Willer my Six/13 will be in fashion for at least another couple of years :-)

Does that mean I've got to dump the Lampre bib shorts now and get some new ones in sickly green

After Phonak folding wouldn't it have been good for Liquigas to take over the BMC bike deal? They seem to be bulletproof bikes and the TT01 is a fine looking machine
Posted: 23/10/2006 12:32

Astana are having BMC's
Posted: 23/10/2006 12:46

And so is Bally, actually...Bally are you riding for Astana?
Posted: 23/10/2006 12:58

That was a secret!!
Vino is second in command to me next season
Posted: 23/10/2006 13:03

how do you know bally's getting a BMC? it's like a freakish telecommunication thing going on.... ;p
Posted: 23/10/2006 14:45

Roving Reporter Tranter (aka Banana Man) doesn't miss a trick.
Vino probably let it slip during a recent interview with him.
Posted: 23/10/2006 17:08

tranter was in the fruit bowl when bally delivered the testosterone that he swopped for the bmc bike
Posted: 23/10/2006 17:23

'bally delivering testosterone' has a cleverly concealed pun.
If it was not for my superhero power of recognising covert double entendres I would not have caught the meaning myself.
Touche, Stoutman. (cue thrilling and cheesy superhero theme music)

(got that one tom)

Posted: 23/10/2006 17:42

I refute all allegations and will publish my defence on my own website (when Adam sets me one up)
Posted: 23/10/2006 17:43

is Adam good value, then?

(sneaky chuckles.)

Banana man indeed is good value and a good web designer as you can see here and here

Not sure i like James's post having seen clever Tom's reading between the lines (*bulging eyes face thingy*) ...
