The bike is currently on display in Adelaide, Australia, and is being auctioned through ebay with bids ending on 31st January 09 at 16:36:18 AEDST. All the funds raised from the bicycle's sale will be donated to Livestrong, the foundation Armstrong setup and the reason he has quoted for his return to racing.

The bike in question is a 56cm Madone 6.9 in Astana team colours and is built with a SRAM RED groupset, Bontrager Aeolus 5.0 carbon wheels and Bontrager finishing kit. Armstrong’s signature features on the top tube of the frame.

Bit of a shame that it'll go to the highest bidder which means only a handful of people can afford it.  It would have been awesome if anyone could have bought a ticket for, say, £10 and the bike given away in a prize draw.

Probably have raised more money to boot

Although I did think to myself..."If I won it I'd be able to auction it off for Cyclists Fighting Cancer"...auctioning Lance's bike for a cancer charity...that's what they're doing!  DOH!

"Can't touch me ner ner ner ner neh I support cancer research, can't touch me!"

Not my size anyhow.

Cancer Research - quite bloody important.

Cycling for a living - not that bloody important.

Who cares what he does if it saves people's lives? Cycling's just a game; life is real.

OK, I took the bait; reel me in
