Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a bit of advice, regarding the purchase of a new (my first) TT bike.

Materials, spec, etc....Which is best?

Does the preferred distance make a difference? If so, 10 miles.

I find my Scott aluminium TT frame excellent for all distances. The most important factor when choosing a TT bike is to find a frame that allows you to put the tri bars where you want them, and to find a set of tri bars you find comfortable. I had to make my own.

Just ride a road bike.

And lose a minute every 10 miles....

Thanks for your valuable input guys.

My current road bike is probably a little bit hefty (Orbea ??), so I thought I'd keep it for training, as the excess weight can only help during training, and then I'd really benefit when on a TT!

I was thinking more of a carbon frame, if only for the fact that they look drop dead gorgeous in  comparison with anything else. That may well be the wrong reason, but....

I'm also toying with getting new wheels for my current bike, but having read countless threads on here, I am now totally confused. I'm 75kgs, not too fast, but making progress, so looking for wheels that will accommodate my getting stronger, if that helps with any suggestions. Clinchers, tubs, deep dish....no idea!

I also live in the flatlands otherwise known as Norfolk, so plan on visiting the Peaks etc, for my Sunday long rides, to get more practice on hills!

For the cheap end - Try Planet X  - then move to a HED -  and then on towards a Covello P3 top end.

As for your Wheels - Try Fulcrum 1 or Hed Jet / Stinger or even the New Dura Ace wheelsets.

Forget Mavic as if they break - no UK repair centre.

And from the Cervelo P3C to the new Ridley with Oval's aero technology. Review is on the site.

I tried looking for Planet X, but the site wasn't loading properly, last night !

I'll be looking at the Dura Ace wheels when I get home, soon .

New Ridley, yeah baby!  But would feel a little conspicuous, doing a 10TT around evens...On a Ridley Dean!! Too classy for me!

Cervelo very nice, too.

I think I need to find something to do, instead of reading all the threads on here, and surfing the net!

No doubt the wife will bring me back down to Earth, next week!

Until then...She can't stop me using the plastic!!!

Keep the suggestions coming

Paul
