I got one of their winter bundles and I have to say that the long-sleeved base layer is now among my favourite items of clothing, cycling or otherwise. Perfect for my commutes and one hour rides across town, wearing it alone under a Altura Nevis jacket and it is plenty warm enough.

Love the touches that you don't really notice - the long back and the seams, and especially the lengthened sleeves which mean I don't get that "chilly wrist" scenario.

I didn't wash mine for a couple of weeks and no noticeable odour, dries out in less time than my synthetic ones too. oh and you can pop it on a hot radiator and watch it wick out in a mater of minutes (I know, I was waiting for the kettle to boil).

How does the long sleeved one compare to an Assos Powerstatic Plus, anyone?

String vests are best.

Don't get me wrong, I like Rapha gear, the design is excellent but....
I recently bought a long sleeve shirt, 2 pairs of socks & a pair criterium gloves. After less than three months of cycling (three times a week, 2 x 45 mins 1 x 1.5hr sessions)I have noticed:
the double sticthing on the shirt cuffs is coming loose, the elastic at the back of the shirt has gone baggy, I have a hole in the toe of one of the pairs of socks, and the stitching holding the "army snipers" foam in the glove has come loose (needing me to re-stitch it before the foam came completely out).
As I said, I like the design; they certainly think about the small details, the materials feel great and the styling is way above any of the normal day-glow gear. However I think the build quality is questionable especially considering the cost when compared with other good quality gear.

If you have problems with the garments why dont you just send them back?
Rapha will repair them for you. you dont get that level of service anywhere else!

That's a good point on the service. However, that was not the issue I was raising. I was questioning the price vs quailty. Based on my experience I have to say: not good. But let's give it a try, I'll give Rapha a call on Monday to see what their service is like. I wonder if they will offer to darn my socks or send me a brand new pair.
