Anyone know which type of lock is strongest? I'll be spending up to about £70, and it's for locking a bike up in a communal shed at uni so weight/portability isn't an issue. I've already checked if I can keep it in my room but they're not budging damn them!

Chain and lock, you can buy chain by the length and it's cheaper. you can get protective covers to stop them scratching your bike. Then buy a very expensive padlock.

I have anchor points in my shed so if they want to take the bikes the shed will have to go too.

this site seems to have all you need, but it's very distracting too...

Guy alludes to a good point, make sure that what your securing it to is solid, otherwise thieves will attack that and not the lock

Just get teh bike insured and make sure the lock is insurance approved.

If they want to steal it they will.

Yeah, i'm looking at insurance aswell but there seem to be a worrying number of ways that they can dodge paying out. Plus they all have a huge excess charge because i'll be keeping it in a 'communal outbuilding' 20% (about £300) and they knock 10% off the value of the bike when its 3 years old (which mine nearly is). I'll still get it insured though, probably cycleguard.
