what are the best brands to go for, and what are the best ones anyone has used? I have got no idea what to buy...

Assos would be the best brand.

the ones my girlfriend made for me for a grand total of £1... windstopper fleece and a bit of sewing machine and you're sorted. hell take the material to the old bids at the sewing machine shop local to you and they'll sort you out with a pair for £5.

Assos probably are best but are also likely to cost you.

Coolmax are a good budget buy. Note, they come in different weights from just Lycra, ideal for cool evenings / Spring / now, to 'roubaix' which is fleece lined and so warmer.

Ive got some pro-vision ones, they seem to do the job ok.

Thing is, why do you need leg warmers now- I havent used mine for weeks...its nearly summer!

Opposing you totally M@, I have completed one singular training ride this year in shorts! It has in my opinion been a very dissapointing spring!

I don't think there is a big difference between brands, although i got some Raleigh one s cheap a couple of years back and they were rubbish.

Well Yorkshire seems to be against the common myth of 'its grim up north' at the moment...went out on Monday evening from 5.30pm-8.00pm and it was an aveage of over 18c!

It's come together for me over the last couple of weeks. I've finally managed to get out in shorts without feeling a bit nippy. That said I have to judge it whenever I get up - as I've had a couple of rides where I've headed out in shorts only to regret it.

It does seem a cooler spring that usual I reckon.

Still wearing the arm & leg warmers in mid may - and even a gillett some days - although today looks good so the legs may get their first airing of the year -

Yeah, after that brief taste of nice weather the summer kit has gone back to the bottom of the drawer. Maybe this weekend will be the turning point though. It'll probably be a nice weekend 'cos i'm out of the country ;-)
