I'd like to get a lightweight jacket that has removeable sleeves to turn it into a Gillet.

I think Gore do one but I haven't been able to find it.

Anybody have any recommendations?

The Pearl Izumi Vagabond would fit the bill. The Bill would be £75.

I bought a Vagabond some time ago and have found that it's okay for summer riding or good with a fleece base for coolish rides. Shower proof to a point. I think I paid about thirty ish for it but I can't remember where from, sorry not much help but if it comes to me I'll post it, I seem to remember they sell xlr8 stuff.

Talking of Polaris gear..........can I suggest you try out www.cycleclothinguk.com

I think the Gore Bike Wear with the zip off sleeves is called the Phantom and comes in both mens and ladies cuts.

Here's a link to the G.B.W. interweb wotsit:

I think Fred is now winning the 'dragging up the oldest thread' competition - without it being noticed on the first response???

Thanks for pointing that out Phil.  I've gone from feeling like a helpful Henry to a proper Charlie...!

..... anyway  -  I expect advice regarding a new jacket is probably welcome almost 6 years on ..... just a thought, but I wonder if Fred has any professional connection with the world of bike clothing?
